SANCTIONS

A sanction is any requirement or status that is imposed as a result of being found responsible for violating one or more of the regulations listed in the Student Regulations Guidebook above. A sanction can be something a student has to do, or it could be a status imposed on the student for a period of time. School sanctions are imposed by teachers, supervisors, head of section, or the Rector, depending on the type of infraction, the nature of, severity of, and circumstances surrounding the violation. 

Our system of sanctions includes:

  1. an apology (oral- written) presented by the student;
  2. extra work assigned to the student;
  3. asking the student to repair/ help in repairing damage to furniture or equipment and to bear the expenses of repair;
  4. detention (during which the student is asked to carry out specific tasks);
  5. deduction of points from the conduct grade;
  6. exclusion from a specific class period;
  7. assigning the student school-related tasks to be carried out by the pupil at a time specified by the administration;
  8. confiscating the student’s non-scholastic items;
  9. summoning the parents/guardians, along with the student, for a meeting with the Head of Section or the Rector;
  10. behavior contracts;
  11. written warning;
  12. temporary out-of-school suspension (one to eight days);
  13. in case of repeated offence, long-term suspension (eight days to one month; the decision might be suspended);
  14. expulsion (permanent exclusion) in the event of repeated violation of the school regulations;

N.B. Temporary or permanent suspensions are decided by the School Disciplinary Committee.
